Outdoor Explorers Camp

Join expert guides for a week of off-campus hiking in different nature areas across Massachusetts!  Campers will travel to different habitats daily, exploring the natural world and challenging themselves on hikes of varying distances and difficulties.  Each day we will travel to a unique and beautiful landscape and allow campers to explore their environment while building camaraderie and gaining beneficial hiking experience! 

 

What’s Included

-Round trip transportation from camp to our daily destinations

-Safety trained, experienced guides a 5:1 camper/guide ratio

-Hiking daypack for each student for daily use 

-Two Liter hydration bladder and tube for daily use that fits in daypack

-Guides carry convenience and safety items for the group 

-Lunch and snacks for the day, hard shell coolers to keep food fresh

 

What Students should Bring

-Closed toe hiking boots or athletic shoes with good tread.

-Clothing appropriate to be comfortable outdoors all day, depending on weather

-A love of exploring and hiking! 

 

Example of 5-Day Camp Schedule

Day 1 – Intro to gear on campus followed by a half day hike

Day 2 – Explore a mountain, get above treeline vistas!

Day 3 – Explore Blue Hills Skyline trail, rugged, single-track hiking!

Day 4 – Discover rocks and waterfalls at Purgatory Chasm!

Day 5 – Hike the winding trails behind Walden Pond and end with a swim!

 

What to bring

Campers are required to wear sneakers and athletic/comfortable clothing. We are trying to use less plastic cups, please encourage your camper to bring a reusable water bottle. There will be water refill stations all over campus. Campers may also have time at our water play area throughout the week, please pack a bathing suit for the week. Summer@BB&N provides towels, so no need to bring your own!
